The University of Toronto's Student Chapter of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (AAPS) was established in April 2004 and has already become one of the AAPS' largest chapters, with over 50 members. The chapter strives to create a unique opportunity for students from all disciplines to interact with the over 12,000 members of the AAPS.

Our History
The University of Toronto Student Chapter of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (AAPS) is a non-profit, student-organized group whose mandate is to promote interaction between its members and member of the AAPS. In doing so, student members who are interested in pursuing careers or opportunities in the pharmaceutical sciences are offered guidance from established leaders in academia and in industry. The group was founded in March, 2004 by graduate students from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences who are student members of the AAPS.
University graduates in the medical sciences, chemistry and physics are often confronted with career or employment uncertainty. This lack of direction can often be due to inadequate awareness of possible job opportunities, not being able to decide where to go and, most importantly, not being able to advertise oneself effectively. University of Toronto's student chapter of the AAPS realizes this and was conceived for the purpose of helping graduates who are interested in pursuing careers in the pharmaceutical sciences find their own niche. We strive to create a unique opportunity for graduates from all faculty disciplines to interact with the over 10,000 members of the AAPS. The AAPS has grown to include members from not only the United State and Canada but also from various countries around the world. It is a truly global organization of leaders in the multidisciplinary field of pharmaceutical science, which come from both industry and academia. Furthermore, student members are encouraged to interact with each other in a supportive role both during social and academic functions and outside of the group.
The group was founded to promote pharmaceutical research and development in Canada by exposing members to the multidisciplinary aspects of pharmaceutical science that encompass not only pharmacology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biology, chemistry but also epidemiology, risk assessment and physics.
